Location: Varied locations at K-5 Elementary Schools
Position: Elementary School Interventionist
Reports to: Elementary Building Principals
Broad Function: MPS Elementary Interventionists, reporting to the Building Principal, and working in conjunction with classroom teachers, will provide support and implement balanced instruction, personalized learning, utilize artificial intelligence softwares and virtual learning with students in grades K-5
Responsibilities:
- Provides high quality instruction to individual students and small groups
- Uses data to provide instruction to students and bring their skills to grade level
- Uses identified research-based interventions focused specifically on individual student needs
- Maintains data based documentation of continuous monitoring of student performance and progress
- Provides data to school teams and participates in decisions about student progress
- Participates in meetings with teachers, administration and families regarding student progress
- Provides diagnostic assessments for students as needed
- Supports implementation of assessment tools and data management systems
- Attends appropriate training to improve knowledge and skills
- Collects and analyzes student data as it relates to reading and literacy
- Communicates student progress to his/her classroom teacher, building principal, building teams and curriculum leadership as needed
- Provides insights to parents/guardians regularly throughout literacy intervention
- Promotes positive behavior during all activities and transitions through effective implementation of SEL strategies
- Performs other reading/literacy support duties as assigned by the building principal or building EIST
Qualifications and Experience:
- CT Elementary Teaching Certification Strongly Preferred
- Bachelor's Degree Required
- Instructional proficiency in literacy area preferred
- Potential experience with Fundations preferred or open to training through district
- Demonstrated ability to motivate and engage students in learning activities and potential distance learning to achieve literacy growth
- Knowledge and experience with the Connecticut Core Standards in ELA, and differentiated instructional teaching strategies preferred
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to apply instructional strategies on differentiated instruction
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to collect data and make recommendations for student programs
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with school administrators, staff, students and families
Schedule & Hourly Rate: $25.30/ per hour for 6.5 Hours a Day; Not a bargaining unit position.
