POSITION TITLE: CAFE WORKER II
SALARY RANGE: $16.94 - $25.09
SALARY GRADE: Maximus Grade: 4
POSITION PURPOSE: The purpose of this position is to prepare and serve meals and to clean kitchen areas in accordance with regulations and requirements. The work is performed under the direction of the Cafeteria Lead II and the Food Services Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (examples of): The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. Prepares kitchen areas for daily operation, rotates food according to safety standards following the First In First Out Procedures. Prepares and serves breakfasts and lunches; prepares main line and ala carte menus according to recipes and regulations and requirements. Serves meals to students in accordance to all federal, state and local guidelines for all Child Nutrition Programs in which the school participates in. Perform all duties of the assigned station according to the operational schedule of the Cafeteria Lead II. Utilizes Point of Sale Computerized System to record student meals, obtain meal counts, production records, recipes, inventory and ordering as assigned. Sells ice cream and ala carte items. Prepares and processes daily paperwork; prepares deposits of money collected from sales; prepares weekly itemization of lunch, breakfast and milk counts; Cleans and sanitizes kitchen areas and equipment in accordance with requirements and regulations. May do daily laundry. Complete all assigned professional development trainings as assigned. Serve in the capacity of Acting Cafeteria Lead as needed at any school building. May be assigned to fill in as acting cafeteria lead during their absence. Performs other related functions as assigned or required by Cafeteria Lead, Food Services Manager, designee or Building Principal.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: High school diploma or equivalent. At least 6 months of food service experience or equivalent education required. Must obtain Food Safety Manager Certification within 90 days of hire/promotion.
LOCATION OF VACANCY: BOARD OF EDUCATION – MIDDLETOWN HIGH SCHOOL
HOURS OF WORK: 7:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. (Monday – Friday) 30 hours per week
ELIGIBILITY INFORMATION: Open to all eligible members of AFSCME Local 1467 who are employees of Middletown Public Schools who are interested in applying for a transfer or demotion, Departmental Promotion, or District-Wide Promotion must submit an application no later than the date established in this announcement. The Union and the BOE agree that eligible members of Local 466 (City) will have the opportunity to apply to BOE positions within this bargaining unit before opening the vacancy up to the public. While the BOE agrees to provide an opportunity for transfer to City employees in Local 466, City employees in Local 466 will not receive preference for any bargaining unit position over Local 1467 employees, nor is the BOE obligated to hire any City employees from Local 466 for any Local 1467 position.
